Khalistani Jaishankar has been a recurring topic in global diplomatic discussions, as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar continues to take a firm stance against Khalistani extremism abroad. His recent visit to London was marred by a security breach when a Khalistani protester attempted to disrupt his convoy and desecrate the Indian flag. The incident, which led to the protester’s detention, has once again highlighted concerns over extremist activities targeting Indian interests in foreign nations. India’s Ministry of External Affairs strongly condemned the act, urging the UK government to take strict action against such elements.
In Canada, Jaishankar has repeatedly expressed concerns over the political space given to Khalistani forces. He has criticized the misuse of free speech that allows extremist groups to openly advocate violence and attack Indian diplomatic missions. The issue gained further prominence after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged Indian involvement in the killing of Khalistani activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in 2023. Jaishankar refuted these claims and called for constructive dialogue between the two nations to resolve their differences.
Beyond Canada, Jaishankar has condemned attacks on Indian interests worldwide, including the vandalism of a Hindu temple in Brampton by Khalistani extremists and threats made against Air India by terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. He has emphasized that promoting violence under the pretext of democratic freedoms poses a serious threat to global security.
Through his unwavering diplomatic approach, Jaishankar has positioned India as a nation that will not tolerate separatist extremism. His efforts highlight the growing need for international cooperation in addressing the misuse of democratic spaces by violent groups.
