Lloyds Banking Group has announced a massive expansion in India, hiring 4,000 technology and data specialists in Hyderabad by the end of 2025. The move is part of a strategic shift to strengthen digital banking services, making nearly half of the bank’s global IT workforce based in India.
This decision comes with major restructuring in the UK, affecting 6,000 IT employees. However, Lloyds has promised to create 1,200 high-skilled jobs in the UK to balance the transition. Industry experts suggest that this shift highlights India’s growing dominance in the global IT sector, with Hyderabad emerging as a key hub for banking and fintech innovation.
Despite criticism from labor unions urging investment in UK-based talent, Lloyds believes the move will help them stay competitive in an increasingly digital world.
